$652 and the weekend to go!
Our latest contribution came from none other than our teen blogger, Sarah and her friends and family. Can I brag on Sarah a bit? I talked to her mom this afternoon and she filled me in on Sarah's latest fund raising. You see, Sarah was saving money all summer to go on a mission trip. In the end, she actually saved EXTRA money on top of going on her trip. She had been saving this just to help where she felt led. Today, she handed her mom the money to help the kids in Kenya. Missy (Sarah's mom) often tells me how proud she is of her daughter. Sarah lives out what she writes and tries to encourage kids to do. . .she gives! She often is found in her household suggesting that they NOT buy something or do something or asking if she can go without, so that she can give. Thank you Sarah for being an example to our children. I want my little girl to grow up to be as passionate and compassionate as you are. Thanks for living for Jesus!
Today, Sarah and her friends and siblings decided to do a lemonAID stand! They picked a prime location at a crossroads of a golf course. . and, in Florida, you know those golfers were thirsty! Way to go guys! Thanks for sacrificing your day to help kids in Kenya go to school!!
If your family is participating, make sure to write us. We'd love to feature your kids and hopefully use their stories to encourage other kids around the country! Don't you already feel inspired by Sarah and her friends? Email us at team@kidslake.org or leave a comment on this post!

There are going to be 30 children going to this school. 15 are staying at House of Hope Children's Home, and the rest from the surrounding area. In order to FULLY outfit this school it's going to cost about $45 per child. I know the numbers probably seem high, but we're outfitting this school from scratch and a lot of the supplies, like the toys, puzzles, instruments, clocks and other non-consumables, will carry over to future school years.
The donate button should be up any day now,
we can't wait.

August Project
This month Kids LAKE project is going to be through an organization called Heart of the Bride, and so before I tell you what we are going to be raising money for, I'm going to take a few sentences to tell you about Heart of the Bride.
Heart of the Bride was established in 1998 as a non-profit organization dedicated to helping provide for the needs of orphans around the world. Their primary mission is to Share From their Abundance With Those In Greatest Need. Through steadfast prayer and partnering with Pastors and Christian Leaders in underprivileged countries, HOB has established on-going relationships with local orphan ministries in 6 nations -- Guinea Bissau, Haiti, Kenya, Uganda, Ukraine, and Zambia.
Our project is going to be outfitting a primary school in Naivasha, Kenya on the property of House of Hope Children's Home.
Naivasha, Kenya used to be a pretty well-off area, but it's now in poverty. Because of the poverty many children and babies are being completely abandoned and a children’s home like House of Hope is a tremendous blessing to that part of the Rift Valley. The primary school will be providing education for the children staying at House of Hope.
If you don't know what we're talking about by outfitting the school, we're saying the we are going to help them do a little "back to school shopping " while we're doing our own. With that said, our goal this month is to FULLY outfit this school.
Here's a list of the things the school needs.

I know this post is a little long but bare with me a little bit longer :)
The children at House of Hope are much like other children all over the world. They like to play, laugh, run and sing. They love to eat. Their main meal consists of ugali, a cornmeal product, served with “relishes” such as cabbage, carrots, greens and stew. Each child has a story, a time where things weren't going well. When House of Hope takes them in they get fed and they get a place to sleep, and an environment where people want to take care of them. And we get to help! Along with meeting their physical needs The people at House of Hope are also filling the children's lives with Jesus.
We can help by EARNING, RAISING, and SAVING our money for this primary school, and Here are some suggestions.
You guys can email what you did to earn, raise and save your money to team@kidslake.org. or you can leave a comment.
We can't wait to see what you guys can do with the help of our Heavenly Father,
Taylor and Sarah
